All metal corrodes i am curious about titanium alloy it is a mixed metal? | |
I have Harrington Rods on my spine for the last 30 years. MY doctor says they will go "hot" and will have to be removed. As i live with a lot of pain i am curious about this. The rod broke 2 years after surgery so repair work had to be done. If anyone has any info on this subject i would appreceiate it. Thank you
Answers:
1All metals do not "corrode." Some metals oxidize, such as iron turning to rust and silver turning black.
Some metals do not oxidize, such as gold and platinum.
No health care professional would put a metal into your body if it rusted, corroded, or deteriorated in some other way. The fact that the rods are 30 years old should be proof that your rods are not corroding.
Your doctor should be the one to explain the term "hot."
